Intro Revision
The liberal arts and all that it encompasses is somewhat of a highly debated topic. Many question the actual benefits of such an education and cannot see how it is helpful, and quite frankly necessary, for so many people’s success post education in the real world. If one is skeptical of the liberal arts they need only look at the UNE Core Handbook, as it clearly embodies the ideal liberal arts education style. This handbook, along with the writings of Jeffery Scheuer and Jonathon J. Ungar, show just how useful and imperative a liberal arts education truly is.
Authors Jeffery Scheuer and Jonathon J. Ungar believe that the liberal arts are indeed much more beneficial than many think. In Scheuer’s article, Critical Thinking and the Liberal Arts, he describes what the liberal arts are, why they are paramount for forming good citizens and how they encourage critical thinking. In Ungar’s article, 7 Major Misperceptions About the Liberal Arts, he states somecommon misperceptions about the liberal arts, such as that it is focused solely on the arts and therefor will never get you a good job, and then subsequently quashes those misperceptions. These writings, along with the UNE Core Handbook, show just how useful and imperative a liberal arts education is by explaining the need for an all encompassing education to create the most well rounded and sought after citizen.
To revise my intro I focused on including the main parts as stated in the worksheet, so I added more introductions of the texts used as well as stating my claim more clearly at the end.
